Update on the Pantry

I now have a new pantry unit in my kitchen! It's just not anchored to the wall yet, so I can't put anything in/on it!! *grin*  But that will come very soon, I hope (hint, hint, brother-in-law).

This is how I spent my Labor Day holiday--painting said pantry and then moving it (with the help of the brother-in-law) into the kitchen. I once again was covered in paint, though I don't believe I got any in my hair this time.

freshly painted--baseboard to be added later
Whilst I was finishing up the bottom shelf on the right, my 87 year old across-the-street neighbor walked over. He had been outside in his swing and saw me painting. Turns out, he knew my last name and knew my entire family back to my great-grandfather, of course. (And yes, that is a refrigerator on my carport. I promise I'm not that person!)

freshly moved in
As I said in my last post, doors will be added eventually, and some molding up top. The big section in the center will look a little something like this...

...once it's anchored and I can safely hang the picture in a central spot.

Yay! It's almost done! Thanks for stopping by!

Be gone, ya!

Actually, it's Begonia--as in the color of paint from Sherman Williams. And boy, is it bright!! My sister picked it out for my craft room, saying it (the craft room) needed to be bright and cheery. Cheery it will be! Take a peek...
The lower part will be Tiki Hut (a really pretty brown) with a chair rail separating the two...for now--it's blinding coming down the hallway!

My brother-in-law Nan also basically finished the 2nd bath today. He installed a glass block window one block at a time--there were no pre-fab ones that fit my window. He also installed the tub surround. I'm actually kind of jealous of this bath compared to my master bath!
Fancy Schmancy huh?? *grin* Nan did a GREAT job!!  Just some minor stuff to finish it up, then I can get to painting in there.

Speaking of bathrooms and painting, I have the top half of my bathroom completed. Just need to put the bottom half on Monday, and it will be ready for flooring! (and ready to put the toilet back in!!) If you can't tell from the picture below, the top half is a light grey, and the bottom half will be one shade darker and separated by a chair rail. My Aunt Ramona painted the window casing and sill today and the linen cabinet. She got started on the medicine cabinet and will finish it next week sometime. She also finished all the trim in my master!
If you look closely, you can see the line of demarcation  next to the bottom of the linen cabinet.

And yes, that is the toilet sitting in the middle of my bedroom. Hopefully by Wednesday I will have indoor plumbing again! For the time being, we are making trips to my apartment and/or McDonalds for potty breaks!

As for my apartment, I have a living room full of boxes...so I guess I'd better spend some time after church tomorrow packing! I have not packed the first thing yet...anybody wanna come do that for me??? *grin* Just had to ask...

...then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...
but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

New Project!

The other day I promised some "before" pics of a new project...

A few months back, I found these wonderful little stools at an antique shop where I live. They were $10 each, and I just couldn't resist!

Please ignore the ugly green/brown tweed cushions in the background--they are awaiting reupholstering. *grin*

There were a total of three of the crossbars missing, but my wonderful brother-in-law, N, made some new ones for me! (they're the lighter ones in the picture below)

I plan on painting the legs (don't know what color yet) and recovering the seats. I also have not yet chosen fabric for the seats. It most likely will have some sort of red in it. (The fabric I chose for the ugly green cushions is a red and light tan/khaki pattern). So the bottom line is that I have no idea when I'll be posting the "after" pictures!!  I hope it's not too long from now...

I'm a little nervous about the project--I've never recovered anything, so I'm not too sure of what I'll be doing. I have, however, read several tutorials online, so maybe I'll be able to do a good job of it. I will not be reupholstering the ugly green cushions though. *grin* I'll be having those done professionally!

If any of you have ANY tips--please be kind enough to leave them in the comments!! I will definitely appreciate it!

Thanks for stopping by!
