Isaac, Isaac, Isaac

Right now I'm sitting at home watching the Weather Channel (which by the way, really is amusing in an annoying sort of way) and listening to the rain. Waiting for the worst of Isaac to come and go (I guess). We're under a flash flood watch and I think a tornado watch right now.

But the good news is that I finally finished the embroidery on my koi quilt top. Now, the quilt show is October 5, 6, and 7--and I cannot find the fabric I bought to back the quilt. Apparently, it is with the majority of my kitchen utensils--wherever they disappeared to in the move. Bleh. Anyway, I've got a month to get this thing quilted together and bound. Think I can do it?? Let's hope so, because it's entered, and my fee is paid...

Here it is though...Koi No. 1...
I love it! I hope the judges and show-goers do, too...

The rain just picked up a bit. So far the wind has been pretty steady and not too bad (yet). Oh! The other good thing about being home for a hurricane is the cookies! *grin* I made some Rolo cookies I found on Pinterest the other day. They are delicious!! You can find the recipe here.

Another one bites the dust

Well folks, in my last post I recounted how I nearly busted it on a morning jog. Turns out evening jogs aren't that much better!!

There I was, halfway through my jog, minding my own business. I had just told myself "pick up your feet"--30 seconds later, Hello Mr. Pavement--nice to meet you! (The City doesn't like to resurface its roads but once every 50 years or so...and my foot found just the right dilapidated spot).

By some unknown force I managed to miss my knees entirely. My right hand, however, was not so lucky. The side of my hand and pinky finger took the brunt of the fall.

After a choice word, I got back up, dusted what I thought was all the dirt off of me (I would later find dirt, dirt, and more dirt), and continued my jog. Bleeding and all. I mean--I still had to get back home right?-- and walking would take longer...plus at the time, I wasn't in that much pain. Endorphins are great, aren't they?? *grin*

On the way back, I called my sister to come take me to the doctor because I knew my hand needed to be cleaned out, and I would probably need a tetanus booster. Plus--I couldn't move my hand all that much, so I knew I wouldn't be able to drive myself.

Fast forward about 30 minutes or so, and the doctor is cleaning my hand a little to see if I need stitches anywhere. I don't, but in the process he pulled a ROCK out of my hand!! Hahahaha!

Road rash and a HOLE in my hand just below my little finger, palm side. My sister took a pic of the lovely mess, but I'll spare you that sight. Here is my hand post-cleanup, all wrapped up, and very sore. Sore, sore, sore! But, at least I will be able to do EVERYTHING with some daintiness with my pinky up in the air, as I currently can't bend it *grin*

Just call me grace...

Morning runs...

...are not for me!!!  I knew this, but I decided to try it anyway. Well it was very nearly disastrous! My legs just DO NOT want to work that way in the morning. About 10 minutes in, I nearly busted it. So I think I'll just stick with my runs in the late afternoon after I get home from work.

The really nice thing about a morning run--it wasn't nearly as hot as it is in the afternoon (of course). Plus, the humidity was low this morning until about 10:00. And, not as many dogs were out to bark at me! *grin*

The other bad thing about a morning run--I come home to Julia Child on PBS Create cooking with Jacque Pepin...so then I was really really hungry!!

But, this also greeted me as I got back to my house...
...beautiful flowers, quality of pic not so great--it's an iPhone pic...but still pretty!

I'm going to try to paint the kitchen today--not sure how far I'll actually get, though. Wish me luck!

Update...
Painted the back wall of the kitchen! Couldn't finish the bits by the doors (on the right side of each door, not visible in pic) because I didn't have any short roller covers *bleh* And, yeah, it's YELLOW!! BUT, most of the wall will be covered by a cabinet unit that will be built soon (hopefully) *grin*

Floor, floor, everywhere! (and some party pics)

Well folks, I now have floor throughout my entire house! Actually, I've had floor for about a week and a half now, but I just haven't gotten around to posting. I also have a new ceiling fan in the den! I'm super excited about this because now I can use it!  (the previous fan was in TERRIBLE shape and completely filthy--no way I was turning that thing on)

Anyway, without further ado, here is my lovely newly floored living/dining room and my new den ceiling fan!

Also, my mother turned 60 Saturday!  We (my sister and I) threw a big party for her--which we will never. do. again. EVER! Don't get me wrong--we love our mother, but we do NOT love throwing big parties so much. It's just too much trouble, especially when renting the Civic Center Magnolia Room from the City and nothing goes like it should. So we decided that we will just send her somewhere for the next milestone. Our dad too. *grin* Much easier and still just as enjoyable. But we did have a good time and good food. Here are some pics to remember the event...

There were actually more guests than in the above picture--it was taken before everyone arrived.
