3 Cheers for Indoor Plumbing!!

I'm back to the 21st century! My toilet is back where it belongs, and my bathroom is (mostly) finished. I have a light fixture in the sink, but who's to say that's not normal in some parts?

The floor is river rock on 3'x3' mesh backing. It was frustrating for Nan to lay it because it was sooo flexible--it kept curling under on two sides when he would go to lay it, ending up in the mortar.

I also now have flooring in my room *grin* Unfortunately, my wonderful brother-in-law is going to be in Oxford at work all week, so this is where the flooring will end for now. But since I still have painting to do, I guess that will be ok. By the time he gets back, it should all be ready for floor!

But other than that, I am POOPED!! Worked Saturday in the house for 10 hours straight with only a 15 minute lunch break. And since I was only cutting-in in the hallway, I feel like I got nothing done...However, I did paint my closet and swept and shop-vacced the craft room and down the hallway.

Here's the craft room. See--the begonia isn't quite so begonia now that the tiki hut is on the wall! Can't wait until I have money to buy the chair rail!! Hahaha --it'll be great then *grin* (and when I can get rid of the ugly pink fan!!)

And now for my favorite part--MY ROOM!! The floor looks fabulous with the green paint...koi pond--that's the name of it. Nan has done a really, really good job on the floor so far. I can't wait until the whole house is done!

Isn't it gorgeous? I love it! And you can see the $16 light fixture I got--it's not what will be there permanently, but it's better than wires hanging out of the ceiling!

Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon...hopefully I'll have more updates on the house soon!

Be gone, ya!

Actually, it's Begonia--as in the color of paint from Sherman Williams. And boy, is it bright!! My sister picked it out for my craft room, saying it (the craft room) needed to be bright and cheery. Cheery it will be! Take a peek...
The lower part will be Tiki Hut (a really pretty brown) with a chair rail separating the two...for now--it's blinding coming down the hallway!

My brother-in-law Nan also basically finished the 2nd bath today. He installed a glass block window one block at a time--there were no pre-fab ones that fit my window. He also installed the tub surround. I'm actually kind of jealous of this bath compared to my master bath!
Fancy Schmancy huh?? *grin* Nan did a GREAT job!!  Just some minor stuff to finish it up, then I can get to painting in there.

Speaking of bathrooms and painting, I have the top half of my bathroom completed. Just need to put the bottom half on Monday, and it will be ready for flooring! (and ready to put the toilet back in!!) If you can't tell from the picture below, the top half is a light grey, and the bottom half will be one shade darker and separated by a chair rail. My Aunt Ramona painted the window casing and sill today and the linen cabinet. She got started on the medicine cabinet and will finish it next week sometime. She also finished all the trim in my master!
If you look closely, you can see the line of demarcation  next to the bottom of the linen cabinet.

And yes, that is the toilet sitting in the middle of my bedroom. Hopefully by Wednesday I will have indoor plumbing again! For the time being, we are making trips to my apartment and/or McDonalds for potty breaks!

As for my apartment, I have a living room full of boxes...so I guess I'd better spend some time after church tomorrow packing! I have not packed the first thing yet...anybody wanna come do that for me??? *grin* Just had to ask...

...then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...
but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Light at the end of the tunnel!!! (and it's NOT the train!)

Boy am I tired! We are STILL working on getting all the priming done so we can start painting. But--this weekend we are THIS CLOSE to being done!! Woohoo!!! *grin*

The bathroom is now finished, too!!  Just needs to be primed, painted, floor laid, and the toilet put back in. Haha--so not quite finished, but close! My wonderful brother-in-law has worked every single day AFTER he gets off work. He's got the shower in, the sheet rock up, and he's built my medicine cabinet and my linen cabinet. Now I've got to get to work painting in there and in my bedroom tomorrow so he can start laying the floor.

Another "during" shot--This is my brother-in-law building the frame for the shower. It had to be either raised up or he would have had to chop out about 18 inches of concrete...I said let's take the easy way! He said, "don't take a picture of my butt!" when I shot this pic haha!

My new shower! Remember this ugly bathroom? The white space on the right side of the frame is where my linen cabinet now sits. I haven't taken a picture of it yet, but one will be forthcoming.

Isn't my medicine cabinet great? I know it doesn't look like much in this picture, but it's set back into the wall, and I have a framed mirror all ready to attach as the door...well it IS attached, but again, I just haven't taken the photo yet. However, you can see the hole where the linen cabinet will sit. (and that light fixture will be going soon)

My aunts Andrea and Ramona who have also worked tirelessly helping get the placed primed and ready to paint! Here they are working on priming the hallway. They've been loads of help *grin* love you guys!!

I purchased most of my paint last weekend from Sherwin Williams while it was on sale. The only paint I still need to purchase is paint for the exterior doors and shutters--and when I figure out what that color will be who knows--and the finish coat for the kitchen cabinets.

It seems like we've been working forever, but it has only been two weeks. But, I can see light at the end of the tunnel now that it's all primed.

And thanks to my sister for helping shuttle us some food when we need it and for mixing up the cleaner I've used on everything...it works great!

I also have to mention my little helper I had yesterday--my niece E. She was a big help in scrubbing down all the doors and closet shelves that we dragged outside. (Did I mention the house was nasty???) She really really wanted to paint, so I let her practice on a kitchen cabinet door that won't be going back in the house. So now she's all prepared to paint the closet shelves when the time comes!

Today I'm resting, but we'll be back to work tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by, and keep coming back to check for updates on my house!

And don't forget to check out my sister's new blog when you get a minute!
